I was a dependable wait staff member with experience in the service industry at a family owned business. Above average communication skills with focus on satisfaction when interacting with guests and creating a welcoming environment they would want to return to.
I was a heavily dependable and responsible Swim Instructor, focused on the safety of my students, and the quality of the education I gave them. I made sure to treat all students with equity and respect no matter their background to ensure they got the same experiences as their peers and had the same opportunities for success.
During this job I worked on many different parts of the restaurant. I took phone calls placing takeout orders, I took table orders and ran food, I packed takeout orders as well as cashing people out. I learned how to thrive in a very fast paced environment, while interacting with many different people during a shift. I worked in a small restaurant that held 2 to 3 servers including myself on a given night, so I was quick to heighten my problem solving skills so I wouldn't have to pull another server away from their work if something went wrong. I was also tasked with handling customers issues quite regularly, as well as deescalating situations if things started to get slightly out of hand when a customer had an issue. I also helped to sell some of the homemade sauces that were made by my boss in order to generate some more income for the restaurant.
I also learned how to work in an environment with a heavy language barrier, as the restaurant was family run by mainly people from Laos and Vietnam.
With this job I worked with a lot of children of all ages, backgrounds etc. I spent my days teaching them new skills, and reinforcing new skills they have been working on. I taught upwards of 10 to 12 classes in one shift. I was responsible for between 4 and 6 children at any given time, and was also responsible for multiple students with special needs. I also did small meetings with the guardians for each of my students at the end of every lesson.
On top of my responsibilities as a teacher, I was also responsible for the setting up and taking down of the pool at the beginning and end of each shift. I worked with a lot of people from different backgrounds, whether it was the students, their guardians, or my fellow instructors.
