Currently serve as an administrative assistant to my United States Army Reserves Unit Commander in accomplishing the overall functions of the unit. As the day-to-day administrator, I assist the commander in accomplishing duties in the as of training, administration, supply, maintenance, recruiting and retention, inspections, and liaison with higher headquarters.

  • Rated top 3 out of 15 other HR Professionals while having the least experience in terms of years as an Army Reserve Administrator.
  • Consistently rated highest over-all company in reference to Human Resource Effectiveness while being the only full-time employee directly overseeing / affecting the numbers.
  • Successfully manage 40 service members with all HR Professional related tasks.
  • Processed over 200 payment actions for 933rd FRSD service members within the over the last year.
  • Act for the commander in coordinating unit preparation for official inspections, command staff visits, and similar activities.
  • Plan and establish priorities; assign, distribute, and review work of unit sections and personnel.
  • Review incoming directives, policies, and instructions from higher headquarters.
  • Maintain liaison with higher headquarters; speak for the commander in clarifying administrative matters, explaining views, or explaining implications of pending problems and program involving the unit.

  • Prepare standard operating procedures to cover a variety of functional activities for the unit.
  • Serve as unit coordinator for personnel and payroll related activities.
  • Initiate and manage personnel actions in such areas as reenlistment, separations, discharges and transfers; military personnel record jackets and health records, requests for Military Occupational Specialty changes, security clearances, retirements, promotions and awards, completion of officer and noncommissioned officer evaluation reports, unit training and attendance reporting, unauthorized absences for drills,
  • Joint Uniform Military Pay System-Reserve Components input and other pay actions, and personnel financial records. Gather facts for and prepares a variety of recurring and one-time reports
  • Serve as unit training coordinator. Administer unit and individual training; interpret training directives/guidance and analyzes unit training status.
  • Recommend changes on the unit training program, training schedules, and monthly plan.
  • Counsel and advise unit personnel on availability of courses and discusses the nature of courses required for specific Military Occupational Specialty attainment. Based on knowledge of training requirements for the unit, prepares requests for Army Service Schools, courses, and correspondence courses.
  • Serve as facility coordinator with responsibility for managing the United States Army Reserve Center.
  • Determine need and initiates local purchase contracts for custodial service, equipment maintenance, grass cutting, etc., and ensures contract compliance by examining goods or services provided, certifying prior to payment by supporting installation.
  • Inspect facilities to determine state of repair and requirements for immediate or long-range maintenance and initiates requests for minor, new construction or major repairs to higher headquarters or to the supporting installation.
  • Serve as point of contact regarding recruiting and retention for the unit in coordination with higher headquarters.
  • Interview and counsels prospective reservists and reenlistment. Explain benefits, pay, training opportunities, advancement, retirement, etc.
  • Explains unit occupational and organizational structure, missions, and activities.
  • Maintains liaison with local army recruiting personnel to coordinate unit recruiting requirements and refers applicants for enlistment. Assist army recruiters with school or civic activities by representing the unit.
  • Counsel reservists on career development (i.e., promotion, education training, and benefits).
  • Select new personnel into the unit based on unit needs and requirements in coordination with higher headquarters.
