Having many years working with children as a camp counselor, program coordinator , and girl scout leader, has provided me the the experience necessary for this position.
I have continued my education by taking accredited courses in literature, psychology, and sociology. I've also taken non-accredited classes in birding, animal tracking, herbalism, and foraging. I regularly participate in bird and other wildlife surveys.

As floral buyer and manager, I am responsible for creating pleasing displays, providing wonderful customer service, designing wedding , and other special event floral arrangements and bouquets, as well as adhere to budget while purchasing flowers and supplies for the department. A positive attitude, the ability to multi-task, and efficiency, are skills that are important in this work and ones that i possess.
The Bird Store and More is a retail store that provides customers with all their bird feeding and nesting supplies, as well as other nature related products. A large percentage of our customers were regulars because of personalized service and knowledgeable staff.
In addition to retail sales, I was responsible for creating and implementing children's nature related programs. I used many creative methods, including, crafts, music, song and games, to make learning as fun as possible. I frequented local schools, scout groups, and after school programs to teach children about local floral and fauna. It was always a positive experience, and in time I was referred to as "The Bird Lady".
Capen Hill was a nature center that had a wonderful summer nature camp program. For many years, I was a camp counselor for elementary aged children. I was responsible for putting together a variety of daily activities, that included arts and crafts, reading, pond life exploration, song, and dance, while ensuring everyone's safety and well-being. It was a wonderful experience. for both myself and the children. Every day was unique and fun.
At Halloween we had a wonderful haunted barn at the sanctuary and I would regularly volunteer to create a frightening scene in a barn stall. It was an absolute blast to watch people extremely frightened and enjoying every moment.
