Transgenic Plants Research- I was asked to be on my plant pathology professors research on transgenic plants. In summary, I utilized the gene investigator database to choose a gene that showed a high mRNA abundance in a type of root cell. AT1G09200 is the gene that was chosen based on this data tool. I, then used the cell diagram to show the protein that is most present in the nucleus which was a histone 3 protein. After gathering this information, I tagged the histone 3 protein with YFP to insert into the root of the plant to visualize if I see gene expression within that plant. I confirmed protein expression by observing, performing experiments, and analyzing the seed pods of the plant experimented on.
