Sometimes the best guidance comes not from those with the best training but rather from those with the most experience. Highly motivated, skilled communicator with the ability to inspire people seeking a full-time position as a Peer Support Specialist with a company where I can use my life experience to help people achieve success. Seeking to utilize my communication, interpersonal skills and personal experience to help people with mental health issues and recovery. I am willing to share my own personal experiences and use my experience to help people know they are not alone.
Providing some insight into my personal journey, highlighting the experiences that led to my desire to become a Peer Support Specialist. I have personally struggled with addiction and mental health issues. I have suffered many losses during my journey, including losing my home, damaging long term personal relationships, losing jobs and other financial hardships. I have been pregnant and struggled with Opiate abuse and was forced to go through the DCS system, finally gaining full custody and rights of my child and am currently raising my two beautiful children all by myself. I have been incarcerated and was forced to navigate the criminal justice system. In 2014 I successfully completed probation and drug court and was able to get all of my felonies dropped to misdemeanors. I survived the suicide of my partner who lost their battle with mental health issues. I am a huge supporter of suicide awareness. I have found great success with my medication-assisted treatment program. I am currently in recovery and I know first hand the impact these issues can have on individuals and their loved ones. My recovery has sparked a desire within me to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those experiencing similar hardships.
