I presently work in a one-person office for an Attorney Chair who oversees Medical Review Panels.

Mr. Simon will be retiring effective October 31, 2024,

  • Review and summarize new files creating a hard file as well as a computer work sheet outlining all parties.
  • Prepare correspondence/emails to Attorneys regarding panel selection and/or submission deadlines.
  • Prepare correspondence to Doctors advising of their appointment to the panel.
  • Follow up with Attorneys and/Doctors on all deadlines set regarding appointments, submissions and/or conflicts in serving on the medical review panel.
  • Prepare correspondence exchanging all material amongst Counsel and Doctors.
  • Maintaining the Panel Expiration Dates for all files and notifying all Counsel for the file when the Order is close to expiring so that Counsel can obtain a current executed Order extending the life of the Panel.
  • Schedule and Maintain the Attorney Chair's Calendar.
  • Once a complete Panel reached, schedule/coordinate the Panel Meeting, via telephone, amongst the Doctors, Attorneys and Attorney Chair and send out the Meeting Confirmation Letter once set.
  • Set up the Panel Conference Call with the Conferencing Center.
  • Prepare the Material/File for the Attorney-Chair for the Meeting, as well as advising him of any important information that he may need to know prior to the meeting.
  • Prepare the Panel Opinion for the Attorney-Chair for the Panel Meeting that will be executed by the Doctors at the conclusion of the Panel Meeting.
  • After the Panel Meeting fax the Panel Opinions and W9 Form to each Doctor and follow up with each until all documents are returned.
  • Send copies of the Panel Opinions and corresponding documents to Counsel as well as the PCF and/or State.
  • Prepare Invoice for services rendered on behalf of the Attorney Chair as well as payment due to the Doctors for serving on the Medical Review Panel.
  • Follow up with Counsel until payment due for each panel is paid in full and then close our file.
  • Responsible for Payroll, Payroll Taxes and Quarterly Taxes.
  • Responsible for paying Office Expenses.
  • Ordered and Maintained Office Supplies.
  • At the end of the year, prepared a very detailed outline summarizing the Attorney's Chair Fees and Office Expenses for the CPA for tax purposes.
