Learning to care for ill adult and pediatric population from the nursing perspective. Acquiring the skills of taking patients’ vitals, using the nursing process to assess patients and make a correlation with acute or chronic illnesses. Learning to receive report from nurses and nurse assistants about patient care at the beginning of shift and giving report to incoming care team at the end of each shift. Reading patients’ electrical medical record to identify previous medical history and ongoing care and identifying interdisciplinary care involved in patient care. Learning to care for  patients using current guidelines and facility policies. Assisting patients during feeding, hygiene, repositioning, and ambulation if appropriate.
