Being chosen amongst a select group of Puerto Ricans to attend spring '19 Camp Runamok, located in the heart of Bourbon country and getting unique access to how bourbon whiskey is distilled, aged, bottled and sold. This connected me to like-minded and ambitious bar professionals from around the country and offered a space for me to network, collaborate, and learn.
I have also had the honor to participate and represent my small island of Puerto Rico in the annual Tales of the Cocktails celebration hosted in New Orleans. (2022)
Because of my position within Scryer Rum, I was the only member of the team that was selected to travel with the owners of Scryer Rum to search for Port wine barrels across Spain and Portugal, networking with local vineyards and winemakers in order to acquire the barrels we needed for rum ageing. Part of this trip also included Scotland and the Isle of Islay, famously known for producing a signature smoky style of scotch like Ardbeg. Visited distilleries included Bruichladdich and Kilchoman.
