For an entire decade, I was the only employee for a one doctor clinic. I cleaned kennels at the beginning of each day and proceeded to carry on all clinic duties throughout the day. I answered multiple phone lines, I was exam room and surgical assistant, filled prescriptions, lab technician, entered all charges into the computer, handled payments and prepared daily deposits. I handled each patient and their owners with deep compassion and empathy. I feel working in VetMed is my purpose in life and I love working any position in the clinic. In 2003, I began working at Paris Vet Clinic and had primarily the same job description. At this clinic. I also leaned more into client education. I would do all surgical check ins, providing treatment estimates, explaining procedure and answering questions, I would do a quick exam looking for any hernias, retained deciduous canines, cryptorxhid, etc. I would also begin each routine visit by evaluating patient Body Conditioning Score and recommending certain dietary changes. When it comes to VetMed, I’m confident in the things I know, and I’m very eager an excited to learn the things I don’t know! I haven’t worked in a long time due to some medical issues and also the birth of my only child. I was blessed to be able to stay home and raise him and I wouldn’t change a thing!!! Now, I’m more than prepared to go back to work. I MISS ring able to law a difference in the lives of both patients and their owners. I want to have purpose in my life and this is the field I know I excel in.
