• Manage and direct the daily operations and duties of eight System Operators
• Oversee and coordinate distribution and transmission switching within our system
• Handle daily problems that arise and communicate with other departments to help find solutions
• Manage all the scheduling and cross - training for the other System Operators
• Keep all departments informed of the current grid conditions that relate to our SPP Power Pool
• Assist other System Operators during storms, large events, or PTO
• Complete monthly reports and maintain records for possible audits
• Communicate with power providers (AECC, AEP, KAMO) when loading conditions are to be changed
• Maintain Continuing Education hours for NERC TO certification

Manage member’s issues including outages and reoccurring problems. Monitor the SCADA system to be able to determine need and manipulate the live system of substations if need should arise. Work closely with the other system operators to stay up to date and knowledgeable about all areas of operation. Identify problems and outages and dispatch crews in order to get power restored to members or any other issues taken care of. Stay up to date and knowledgeable on the NISC programs such as CIS, OMS, and Smart Track.
