  • Ensure all Safety and quality procedures are followed to GATX standards.

  • Estimate defective valve components, new valves, gasket material.
  • Ensure drawings of railcar valves match the preexisting valves that were inbound on the car.
  • Work closely with the GATX Engineering Department when discrepancies are found between railcar drawings and physical arrangement on the railcar.
  • Quote material and components from vendors needed for completion of bill of materials.
  • Ensure Valve and Coil material totes are completed with all material on hand and in tote.
  • Calibrate valve room torque wrenches and pressure gages.
  • Ensure all other equipment that cannot be calibrated in house gets shipped to proper vendor for calibration
  • Work closely with Quality Assurance Department on OIR cars and helping with investigations of OIRs that are Valve and Coil related.
  • Daily QA checks of completed valve rebuild paperwork on completed rebuild.
  • Spot audits on completed valve sets.
  • Conduct regular inspections of completed valve sets, ensuring adherence to quality standards and GATX guidelines.
  • Boost staff morale and performance through recognition and ongoing feedback sessions.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless communication and coordination for POD cars for the week.
  • Communicate repair needs to maintenance staff.
  • Increase employee performance through effective supervision and training.
