Doria Jackson

Community Habilitation is a support focused on assisting people with disabilities to lead independent lives with activities that enrich and support independence. It is based upon the idea of skill-building in regards to home and community safety, personal organization, household responsibilities, and medication administration to name a few. I work specifically with one individual that has quadriplegia and hydrocephalus with a long-term artificial airway. I aid and support the individual through a medical aspect, where I provide airway suctioning, medication/nebulization administration, and basic hygiene. In addition, I work with them as well as their family to go out into the community to help promote and grow an independent lifestyle.

• Maintained patient charts and information, strictly adhering to HIPAA laws and privacy guidelines.
• Responded to both emergency codes and rapid responses, and immediately initiated treatment.
• Treated patients after conducting assessments and laboratory testing, such as ABG sampling and analysis.
• Carried out day-day-day duties, including patient assessment, medication administration, and rounds accurately and efficiently.
• Quickly learned new skills and applied them to daily tasks such as providing mechanical ventilation, bronchial hygiene therapy, and disease management improving efficiency, productivity, and better patient outcomes.
• Demonstrated respect, friendliness and willingness to help wherever needed.
• Used critical thinking to break down problems, evaluate solutions and make decisions about patient care.
