Highly-motivated individual with desire to take on new challenges. Strong work ethic, adaptability and exceptional interpersonal skills. Adept at working effectively unsupervised and quickly mastering new skills.
My incarceration started on the night of April,9th 2015. On that night, one of my best friends, Bryan Florer, and myself went out to drink a few beers and listen to live music. I drove. We left the Deer Lodge in Ojai, CA about 11:15 pm after a night of music and beers. While getting onto the freeway on Santa Ana Rd I crashed into a tree and killed my friend. I won't go into details here, as I am very open and willing to talk about in person.
I took full responsibility 2 days after the crash at my first court appearance. I knew full well by pleading guilty I was going to prison. But I was guilty. I did this. I was willing and expecting to go away for a long time. I was granted a reprieve when, by the grace of god, Bryan's family forgave me and asked the courts to take leniency on me. Their forgiveness is something I can't explain, both in their ability to have that kind of compassion, and for what it has meant for me and my grieving and growth. I continue to have a relationship with his family to this day. I am beyond blessed to have them in my life.
While Incarcerated I worked as the (MAC) Mens Advisory Chairmen. I worked directly with Prison Staff, including Chiefs, Sergeants, and the Warden. I advocated for their rights within the confines of those very restricting walls. I served 2 years and 1 month. Or 758 days, but who's counting.... I was absolutely blessed to only serve 2 years. I qualified for Fire-Camp, but was not serving enough time to actually be transferred to a unit. I was however given the 33% on my 6 years sentence. Again, BLESSED.
I feel that I bring some very unique experience to this job. I have direct experience both with the Prison population and Life-Coach experience from my time at ARC(Association For Ret****d Citizens)
I'm sure you will have more qualified applicants, but you will hard pressed to find another person as motivated to help this population as I am. If given this opportunity, I will give this job and the population my personal best every single day. Their success is my success.
