Elizabeth Rexine is currently a junior at Catholic University pursuing degrees in both Music Composition and Philosophy. She has an extensive background in music starting at the age of six. Her compositions have primarily focused on voice; she has arranged hymns, written and released a song cycle for voice and piano trio, directed the rehearsals for all of her composition performances, and is currently working on a polyphonic Mass setting in F# minor (the Kyrie was performed last spring) and a choral setting of St. Gertrude's Prayer. Music theory is like a second lanuage to her. She can detect a song's key and chord progression by ear and even has pitch-color synesthesia! She is a cradle Catholic who reverted at 17 and has been passionate about her faith ever since. She is organized, driven, and very passionate about music in the liturgy-specifically its ability to draw the soul closer to God.
