Detail-oriented team player with strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with a high degree of accuracy.
My most recent work has been at a fast-paced brunch restaurant. I have over 10 years of customer service experience, including as a team lead. I’ve developed advanced customer service skills and generally present a warm and upbeat demeanor to everyone I meet. At this job I am required to wear many hats, which means learning new skills frequently and in a short amount of time. It also requires a lot of energy, and I genuinely enjoy running around a little at work.
I was liaison between the front and back of house. My job was all about multi-tasking and the ability to focus despite a busy and chaotic environment. I was also the point of contact for the kitchen. During my years in the restaurant business, I have picked up conversational Spanish, which helps. When presented with an issue, I boiled it down to basics and took care of the core issue as efficiently as possible. There was also a great deal of cash handling and math required. As someone with a history in performing, I represented the restaurant several times on live television. Though my experience largely centers around the food industry, it has truly honed and strengthened my skills of communication, focus, multitasking and holding many things in my head at once, problem-solving, organization and even compassion and the ability to work amongst a team.
One of my favorite jobs has been as a virtual teacher. My role required reviewing, memorizing and editing lesson plans, as well as research on a wide variety of topics. I taught lessons about everything from math to social justice. I was able to use my skills of excellent written and verbal communication. I would comprehend new information quickly and fill in the necessary blanks without prompting. It was important that my demeanor be engaging and professional. I enjoyed making a difference in children’s lives with my passion for learning.
