Hello, my name is Emily I. Bond and for the past eight years, I’ve been working for Progressive Insurance. I started with the company on May 4th of 2018 as a customer service representative in the personal lines auto department. My soft skills for customer service, integrity and the golden rule all helped me acquire employment with Progressive. Early in 2019, I heard about the opportunity to work in commercial lines customer service, so I officially began training for that role. The stakes were higher as the average premium for these policies were anywhere from $15,000.00 - $300,000.00 + annually. Additionally, I would be responsible for managing reports to the federal motor carrier safety administration (FMCSA) if trucking companies were not in compliance. If insurance agents responsible for binding polices for Progressive were found in violation of underwriting guidelines, it was my responsibility to report that to licensing for misconduct. I was in this role during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic from March 2020 – December of 2021. This was the most challenging time of my Progressive career. In December of 2021, I got promoted to becoming a commercial lines processor and worked in that capacity from December 2021, until January of 2025. In late 2024, we received the announcement that the department was downsizing due to lack of inventory to be worked. The commercial lines department is the hardest to get into, so accuracy and efficiency need to be flawless to land a processing job. En lieu of layoffs, they allowed us to choose a comparable role to transition into. So, from January 2025 until present day, I work in claims subrogation. Prior to Progressive, I worked in the automotive industry selling Honda’s. The culture at Honda was very similar to Progressive, which was why I got hired. The Japanese culture is centered on integrity and the golden rule. Prior to the car sales industry, I worked at various restaurants as a waitress to get me through college where I obtained an associates degree. Currently, I am enrolled at Franklin University to obtain a bachelor’s in business administration. In spring of 2025, I made the dean’s list. My projected graduation date is Spring of 2028.
