• Sweep, mop, vacuum, disinfect surfaces, empty trash/recycling, and restock supplies as needed
• Set up and break down rooms for school events, meetings, and activities
• Assist teachers and staff with special cleaning requests or classroom needs
• Perform basic maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, fixing minor issues, and reporting larger repairs to the maintenance department
• Operate custodial equipment including floor scrubbers, buffers, vacuums, and carpet cleaners
• Conduct routine inspections of restrooms, hallways, and high-traffic areas to ensure cleanliness and safety
• Unlock and secure assigned areas of the building; monitor for safety hazards or security concerns
• Follow safety guidelines for chemical handling, equipment use, and proper cleaning procedures
• Work independently and complete tasks efficiently without close supervision
• Support the custodial team by helping new or temporary staff understand cleaning routines and building layout
• Communicate effectively with coworkers, teachers, and administrators to keep the school running smoothly
