I am currently attending St. Luke's School of Nursing. My end goal is to be a Registered Nurse at the Bethlehem campus Neuro and Trauma Intensive Care Unit. I have been in the hospitality industry for about 15 years now. I was always curious about the nursing field, and a little over a year ago, I decided to take my chance. I applied to be a nurse aide in the ICU, mainly to see if I would like it and if the medical field was a good fit for me. I fell in love, to say the least. Everything from the interview, to my first day with my preceptor, my first experience doing CPR in a code, and continuing today; I have loved every second of every shift I have worked. The nurses I work with teach me everyday, one in particular gives me a "lesson of the day" each shift we work together. While in nursing school, and working on the floor, I still work as a bartender full time. Some days I work at the hospital during the day, work at night at the bar, leave at 3 am, to be back at the hospital for a 12 hour shift at 6:30 am and no matter how exhausted I am by the end of my hospital shift, if they would ask me to stay extra I would, because I love being there that much. I finally found what I want to do and what I am passionate about just from taking a chance.
