Tennis

I have been playing tennis since I was seven years old. As a kid I was always in sports but I never loved them as much as tennis. At first it was just for fun, I would take clinics over the summer but never really took it seriously. As I played, coaches realized that had a naturally talent for the sport and wanted me to play more. I kept going to summer clinics and was the only girl that could keep up with boys. This gave me a big confidence boost and ever since then I was hooked. Tennis has allowed me to express myself, meet new people, relieve stress, and is honestly such a fun sport to play!  My coaches and the countless people I have met through tennis have made me passionate about this sport. Without tennis I would not be the person I am today.

Flute

I was in band for six years. I started in middle school and played until my sophomore year of high school. Creating and preforming music with my peers was special to me. I loved the challenge of combining unique sounds and bringing instruments together to make melodic harmonies. With each performance, I felt the notes jump off the page and come to life and wanted the audience to feel that as well. The first practices were never easy but going from incorrect notes, bad tuning, and subtle dynamics to the final performance was the most satisfying feeling. On top of performances, I learned to appreciate music more. Now, I pay attention to chords, dynamics, and rhythms. This experience allowed me to learn a new language, get out of my comfort zone and to express emotion.
