I have been playing basketball for over 12 years. I work very hard to achieve my goals on the court so I could exceed my own expectations. Because of all my hard work, last year, I was blessed with the opportunity to swing up and play Varsity basketball when we were the number 1 team in the state of Colorado. We made a great run in the playoffs unfortunately losing to Denver East in the final 4. This past basketball season, nobody thought that we were going to be very good because we lost 10 seniors the years prior. However, we ended up being a top 5 team in the state beating all the major schools like Thunderidge, Rock Canyon, Eagle Crest, Chaparral, etc. I was the 7th man off the bench playing good minutes on the court. I was a valuable player on this team because I brought a lot of energy, played good defense, and most importantly was a great teammate. I have an ability to pick my teammates up when they are down as well as help my team stay motivated when we are down.
Link Crew is a way for the upperclassmen, juniors and seniors, to get together before the first day of school and welcome the Freshman. In Link Crew, I took on the leadership role for my group helping get things organized, set up tables, and stayed on top of what we needed when we needed it. As the freshman entered the building, we were there to welcome them, give tours, help ease their anxious feeling, and get to know them. This is important because entering a new high school can be overwhelming and scary. I'm proud to say my group and I really helped get them through that first day and help prepare them for the rest of the year.
