Jacobetti Home for Veterans, My mother used to work at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans, and they would host a yearly fair-like activity in the summer on a nice day. I helped set up carnival-like games and food for the Veterans. I knew some of them from my mother, who had previously introduced me to them, and every time I shook their hand, they had a bright smile. They always had something nice to say about my mom or me. They liked seeing a younger guy like me around because it might remind them of themselves when they were young and make them feel a little younger again. During Christmas time, I would go over to the lower level and play Christmas music like Deck the Halls, O Christmas Tree, and more on the Piano. I was always nervous to play in front of others, but it felt like such a comfortable environment at the Veterans homes. They always cheered for me when I finished a song. I felt good about myself and what I was doing for others.
