Skills

  • My skills and strengths are critical thinking and collaboration A time where I have used this was during a team project We had to find a solution to a problem that we had found out was negatively impacting people in where we lived We were stuck when it came to creating an experiment, but I used my critical thinking by sharing what I know so far about that problem and then we all started collaborating our ideas and that led us to the step of our experiment

Your Story in My Class or Program

  • What class(es) or research experiences have you had with me?
  • A class I have had of yours was science. A moment during your class that I was very proud of was during the urban heat island unit. Me and my group were able to come together, research, and find a solution to the problem we found that was caused by the UHI.

Basic Info

  • Name: Hinda Habonimana
  • Grade/Year: Sophomore
  • Why are you interested in applying to STEP?
  • I am interested in applying to STEP because one of my biggest goals in life is to be able to attend college. Ever since I was little, I have had a deep passion for school. It has always been a way for me to show my growth, while expressing myself through different kinds of subjects. Hopefully one day I'll be able to gain a degree and make a positive impact in other people's lives. Knowing that before entering college, there is a lot of preparation that comes to it like for standardized testing, essays, and financial aid. I believe that STEP will be able to help me and guide me through that very challenging process of slowly entering college. Especially with financial aid, coming from a low income family I worry a lot about my college tuition will be too much for my parents to bear with, but with help of STEP I'll be able to secure scholarships making my tuition affordable.
