  • Venipuncture and Capillary puncture ranging from infancy to geriatric.
  • As a certified Phlebotomist, I currently work at the UNC Outreach Lab. Patients come from different providers and sent to the labs for scheduling in our system (Epic). Duties include gathering information such as Photo ID, Insurance, patient care, and customer service.
  • Specimens are collected, centrifudged and processed in lab and sent to UNC Rex, Mclendon, and Mayo Clinic for testing.

  • Certified Phlebotomist duties included venipuncture lab collections upon doctor request. This also included travel to various family practices, or other medical providers to accommodate patient needs.
  • Venipuncture would be collected, specimen would need to be centrifuged and processed accordingly.
  • Lab specimens were sent to each department such as hematology and chemistry screenings. Pathology specimens were processed by phlebotomist and sent directly to Pathology for testing.

  • Duties included point of care urine drug screening and breath alcohol testing, Blood collections and urine specimens were sent out to lab for any additional results.
  • As a certified DOT Collector for urine drug screens or breath alcohol testing duties include travel to Airport. Collections for American and United Airlines ranging from Pilot, Co-Pilot or Flight attendant onboard. Chain of Custody and all materials for collection would be brought onsite, prepared and sent to lab for confirmation.
  • As a certified Phlebotomist I was responsible for all venipuncture and capillary specimen collections.
  • Duties also include certification in DNA swab testing for legal/non-legal purposes, as well as certification of fingerprinting for background checks. Patient care, and customer service were the highest priority.
