Perform various duties related to detention, safeguarding, security and escort of violators of immigration laws, exercise surveillance over detainees, and maintain order and discipline, attend to sheltering, feeding, and physical well being of detainees, and counseling of alien detainees on personal matters. Guard detainees at deportation or exclusion hearings, recognize potentially hazardous health, safety, security, or discipline problems, supervise voluntary work details, and encourage participation in organized recreational activities.

Ensure detainees are properly prepared for and transported in accordance with CUSTOMS & BORDER PROTECTION Performance Standards.
Patting down all detainees and applying appropriate restraints prior to boarding vehicles. Monitoring detainees to ensure appropriate behavior during transport. Securing the detainee transfer paperwork in the vehicle and ensuring appropriate distribution upon delivery of detainees to destinations. Ensure the inventory of detainee baggage/valuables has been properly completed by visual examination of appropriate documentation.

• Conducts or performs numerous detainee security duties, including but not limited to: head counts, searches, sample taking and handling, completing logbooks, reports, and other documents, and patrolling perimeter and various areas of the facility.

• Reports to the designated Shift Supervisor
• Responsible for custody and discipline of detainees assigned to the facility in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) directives.

• Reads, reviews, and properly applies information found in offender records which is related to the offenders’ health and safety and to the security of the facility; provides leadership and technical guidance to other staff; complies with policies, procedures, rules, and regulations; enforces offender disciplinary rules; and prepares and maintains records, forms, and reports.

• Searches for contraband and provides security; counts, feeds, and supervises offenders in housing, work, and other areas accessed by stairs; and maintains security of various assigned areas involving long periods of sitting and standing, climbing stairs and ladders to reach the assigned areas, and working at heights.

• Observes and reports activities and incidents at an assigned client site, providing for the security and safety of client property and personnel.
