  • Initially hired as CFO and was asked to serve as the organization’s President & CEO after 6 months following an executive transition plan administered by the Board of Directors. Responsible for all financial and operational aspects of the organization as well as community outreach, provider recruitment, strategic planning, physician relations, business development, treasury functions. Tasked with developing a 3 year strategic plan to achieve financial stability. McPherson Hospital is a private 501c3 community health care system with an annual operating budget of approximately $42 million and net assets of $33 million.

  • This position oversaw all aspects of the organization and was tasked with a financial turnaround due to impending bankruptcy and potential loss of governmental funds due to operational deficiencies. This task was accomplished within a 2 year time frame after the development and implementation of a strategic plan focusing on operational efficiencies, revenue growth and program expansion along with developing two for profit operating divisions.
  • CRI is a regional community action agency serving 11 counties in east central West Virginia. This agency provides a diverse range of services using governmental, self-generated, grant and solicited donated income with a mission to improve the quality of lives for those living in poverty, homeless, substance abuse, mental health and other barriers to self-sufficiency.

COO & CFO for Doctors Hospital (owned subsidiary)

  • Doctors Hospital is a 25 bed critical access hospital with owned multi-disciplinary physician practices. This position was responsible for the overall daily operations of the hospitals clinical and administrative activities as well as all fiscal activities. This position had a dual reporting function to both the hospital’s CEO and the OhioHealth corporate CFO. Notable successes included the development and implementing several process change efficiency initiatives, revenue enhancements and cost reduction initiatives resulting in the hospitals first year of profitability in nearly fifteen years.

  • During my employment, I was initially hired as the Corporations Director of Finance, promoted to Director of Planning and Business Development and then promoted to CEO of Roane General Hospital who signed a management contract with Camcare. The most significant accomplishment during this employment period was a operational and financial turnaround for Roane General Hospital who was facing bankruptcy. This was accomplished by many initiative most notably converting the hospital to a Critical Access Hospital model and aligning with a local FQHC to streamline and expand services.
  • Camcare is a large regional healthcare corporation with several owned and affiliated free standing hospitals and other healthcare provider entities.

  • I began my professional career as a staff accountant as a recent college graduate and while there completed my CPA certification. I advanced to the position of Senior Auditor and was primarily over a small staff of accountants performing audit, tax and financial analysis services for healthcare, coal, banking and media clients.
