Working at Gibault Children’s Services involved supporting children and youth in a safe, structured, and caring approach . Staff help meet daily needs, supervise activities, model positive behavior, and provide emotional support while following care plans and company and state policies. The role includes building healthy relationships, ensuring safety, communicating with team members, and helping youth develop life skills, responsibility, and confidence. Documentation was another crucial element of the mental health technician role. We were also trained in non violent crisis intervention techniques which involved de-escalation skills and safety approved holds.
