  • With a loving spirit, I have operated Shaw Child Care, a registered home daycare, for the past 32 years, where I have nurtured hundreds of young minds and sent them on to elementary. School with a solid foundation for the future. As a registered provider, I have not only cared about the children in my home but all the children cared for in-home daycare environments. As such, I founded the Flower Mound Child Care Professional Association and is a member of several other Child Care professional associations, such as the Arlington DFW Child Care Professional Association.   • Family Child Care Association, Texas Registered and Licensed Childcare Providers, North Texas Home Daycare, and Christian Daycare Providers. The mission of all the above groups is to promote licensed, safe, and loving environments for preschool children in Denton County.
  • I am excited and honored to be the elected Texas State Representative for National Association of Family Child Care (NAFCC). Family childcare education is at the forefront of “Building. Back Better” the entire Child Care system.
  • I'm excited to volunteer her time, expertise, and voice in moving family childcare forward. I listen to the needs and concerns of family childcare providers in the state of Texas and advocate on their behalf to serve the field’s needs better.
  • By stepping into this role, I have function as an ambassador for NAFCC and other providers like myself. NAFCC State Reps link arms with family childcare providers, advocates, and stakeholders across the nation. We’ll work together for family childcare and building an equitable early childhood education system that reaches every child in this country.
  • 2023 former Social Justice Ministry Lead, at Westside Baptist Church.
  • My goal is to promote ideas and values within our communities through grassroots organization and education. The following are activities that have been important to me:
  • I volunteer with the North Texas Food Bank.
  • Concerned Citizens and African American Parents (CCAAP), Women of Flower Mound Club, Flower Mound Women’s Business League, Denton County Democratic Party – Precinct Chair, Democratic Women of Denton County, and Denton
  • County Texas Association of Black Democrats, Black Women Community Power (BWCP), Denton County – Nonpartisan – Voter Registration, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Nonpartisan. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr Celebration Committee, Westside Baptist Church Social Justice Ministry Lead – Nonpartisan.
  • At Westside Baptist Church (WBC), located in Lewisville, Texas, where our mission is to serve God, share Christ, and love people.
  • I served as the former Social Justice Ministry Lead. As such, I strived to create systemic change within the greater Lewisville community in areas of education, policing, racial equity, and voting.
  • Also, to educate the members of Westside and engage them to participate in the civic process.
  • By developing a civic engagement program, it allowed the Westside congregation to become a voice of influence that reaches beyond the church and creates substantial and lasting change on the municipal, county, state, and national levels.
  • In accordance with the goals of social justice ministry, I hosted voter registrar training at WBC. Within an hour, approximately 34 people became Voter Deputy Registrars under the tutelage of Paula Paschal, Training Coordinator at the Denton County, Elections Administration.
