Soil testing of Russellville Soil
At Arkansas Tec One of the projects conducted was traveling around Russellville, Arkansas River, Clarksville, and Petite Jean state park trails getting strike and dips using a Brunton compass documenting Atoka formations, Hartshorn formations, McAllister formations, Savanna formations, and Quaternary formations in specific location using specific colors for each formation. The Atoka formation was the most dominant formation on the map starting from Clarksville all the way down to the northern part of Russellville.
Around Russellville I went into a spillway couple of miles North using measuring tools like the tape measure, Jacob staff, and Brunton Compass to measure the thickness of rock layer in the spill way to make a Stratigraphic column of ever rock layer identified and measured and give details of sediment size, fossils found, and in the spill way
Colorado OSU Geology camp
Surveyed, mapped and identified rocks at the twin peak mountain range located Southwest of Canon City in Chaffee County, Colorado using Arc Gis software and the Brunton compass. Using Arc Gis software, the formations were mapped out from the start position and ending position in correlation to the different rock formations. In conclusion, Harding Sandston formations, Fountain formations, Basement rock, and Freemont Dolomite formations were found and mapped. For the Hogback location near Canon City Colorado, Arc GIS software was used to determine there was limestone and two different types of Quaternary deposits.
