Jason Barrette

• Conduct SIU investigations related to property damage and/or personal injury resulting from automotive accident, arson, and on the job accidents
• Document scene and damage through video and photographs, scene diagram & measurements, and accident reconstruction.

• Enforced all Federal, Military, and Louisiana state laws, and vehicle accidents
• Upon arrival, assumed control and evaluated the scene and rendered medical aid if needed
• Conducted interviews and obtained statements of all parties involved, as well as any witnesses
• Documented the scene and collected and logged all evidence.

• Assigned to the Aviation Division as the Helicopter Pilot
• Provided aerial support to the patrol division, conducted Homeland Security flights of the Mississippi River, and conducted Search & Rescue
• Also worked as an Undercover Narcotics Agent, identifying high narcotic areas and handling high-risk narcotic related issues.

• Collated, evaluated, and disseminated classified information on other countries military weapon capabilities and assets.

Patrol Division

• Responded to calls for service from the citizens of Jefferson Parish and surrounding parishes
• Established command/control of the scene, ensured public safety & wellbeing of all parties involved, conducted interviews, took statements, evaluated all provided information, determined what laws and/or parish ordinances were violated, collected and logged all evidence, and wrote detail reports of the incidents
• Also served as the Field Training Officer (F.T.O) for new Police Officer Recruits and new hires.

Detective Homicide Division

• Responded to incidents within Jefferson Parish that involved the loss of a human life, either through murder or by natural causes
• Assumed command of the investigation, examined the crime scene and victim's body, collected and logged evidence, interviewed witnesses and suspects, and compiled arrest and search warrants.

Street Crimes Division

• Assigned to the Street Crime Division as a Tactical Narcotics Unit
• Aggressively patrolled and disrupted illegal activities in High Crime/High Narcotics areas throughout Jefferson Parish
• Conducted high-risk narcotic investigations and undercover narcotics buys.

SWAT (Special Weapons & Tactics)

• Received training to respond to and effectively handle Active Shooter Incidents, Hostage Situations, Barricade Subjects Incidents, Tactical and Explosive Breaching, Repelling, Use of Automatic Weapons & Specialized Devices/Equipment
• Responsible for training other law enforcement officers in tactics and handling such incidents.
