Log accountability of post equipment in the post logbook. Ensure communication equipment is functional, conduct a test with Central Control and/ or Housing Unit Control and immediately report any deficiencies. If assigned to the ERT, ensure you are aware of your responsibilities and have access to any necessary equipment required for response.
  • Review shift rosters to familiarize yourself with the staff assigned to your zone. Ensure that housing unit officers are on duty, in proper uniform, alert and attentive, and that they have initiated their assigned duties as prescribed in the housing unit post orders.
  • Make contact with each assigned officer and ensure they are familiar with their post duties, special assignments and pertinent information regarding their area of responsibility.
  • Conduct a security and sanitation inspection of your housing zone and document completion in the housing unit post log book.
  • Familiarize yourself with any special events, building schedule, and/ or inmate appointments scheduled during your shift.
