Work History

Candidate Cohort Facilitator/Reader Mentor

National Board Resource Center
08.2019 - Current
  • In this position I lead a cohort of candidates through the National Board process. We meet 12 times over the course of the school year. I help them navigate the 5 Core Propositions of Teaching as well as the standards for their specific content areas. I help them select lessons that will better their teaching practices and reflect on those lessons in written format. This leads them to look closely at their teaching practices and knowledge of students. I also read the written commentaries and study the videos of candidates while providing feedback prior to them submitting work to National Board.

Reading Interventionist

Springfield Public Schools
08.2014 - Current
  • My current position is a Reading Specialist for grades K-5. The students I work with need extra assistance in the areas of reading and writing. I create various lesson plans based on student need and ability levels to increase concentration, participation, and progress student accountability. I push into Kindergarten, First and Second grade classrooms and work closely with grade level teachers. I also pull small groups of students into my classroom for pull out intervention.

Classroom Teacher Grades 1-3

Springfield Public Schools
08.2004 - 08.2014
  • During my 10 years in the classroom I developed interesting lesson plans to meet academic, intellectual and social needs of students, whole class and in small groups, while differentiating for various learning needs. I routinely met with students' parents regarding in-class issues and learning interruptions, both behavioral and academic, to discuss solutions. I established and enforced rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among a class of 25-30 students per year. I also developed, administered, and corrected student work in a timely manner while giving feedback to each student.
