• Management of the adult oncology patient from initial diagnosis through staging, management of chemotherapy-related toxicity through transition to survivorship and end of life care in ambulatory, acute, and critical care settings
• Management of Intrathecal Therapy Clinic including diagnostic and therapeutic use of Ommaya reservoir, administering intrathecal indium, Herceptin, Topotecan, Cytarabine, Methotrexate, Rituximab, Interleukin-2 and experimental therapies
• Treatment of acute and chronic toxicities of oncologic treatments including radiation necrosis, cognitive impairment, encephalopathies, CNS vasculitis, neuropathy and neuritis, CAR-T therapy induced neurologic toxicities
• Evaluate and treat chronic and acute comorbidities including infection, hypertension, hyperglycemia/diabetes, thromboembolic events, seizures, anemia/pancytopenia, and fluid/electrolyte and nutrition issues
• Care of patients receiving novel therapies including immune checkpoint inhibitors, monoclonal antibodies, BITE antibodies, dendritic cell vaccines, oncolytic viruses, tumor infiltrating lymphocytes, high-dose bolus Interleukin-2, intrathecal Interleukin-2, intrathecal Nivolumab, intrathecal chemotherapy and cytotoxic chemotherapy
• Management of treatment and disease related side effects such as neutropenic fever, sepsis, bleeding emergencies, tumor lysis syndrome, Addisonian crisis, TRALI, DAH, and DIC, hypophysitis, colitis
• Partner closely with clinical research teams to enroll patients on clinical trials, including Phase I clinical trials
• Procedures include bone marrow biopsies/aspirations, lumbar punctures, accessing Ommaya reservoirs, administration of intrathecal chemotherapy, punch biopsies, drain & suture removal. Some experience placing central lines, chest tubes, extraventricular drains, ICP monitors, thoracentesis, and paracentesis
