The Lead Clerk provides guidance and direction to mail processing or customer service employees in the absence of a supervisor. As a working leader, the Lead Clerk collaborates with supervisors to meet established goals and targets, ensuring efficient operations and timely mail processing or customer service. The Lead Clerk balances workload by shifting employees to different assignments as needed, in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The Lead Clerk may be responsible for making supervisor-approved entries to correct time and attendance records, and retaining supporting documents. TACS/ Timekeeping, fixing clocking errors, and submitting annual or sick time. The Lead Clerk may provide service at public windows for non-financial transactions, maintain records related to mail, process accountable mail, and also sort, meter, and distribute mail, as well as operate automated mail processing equipment.
Responsible for department cleanliness, food preparation, customer service, and maintaining stock in assigned areas. Demonstrates compliance with the Code of Conduct and compliance policies, takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns, and reports suspected violations. Prepares food according to recipes and standards. Maintains stock levels in the assigned area. Cleans and sanitizes assigned areas; keeps the work station clean and organized.
