Years of work experience
For as long as I can remember creating art has been a passion of mine. Discovering the world of makeup as a pre-teen was a new and exciting outlet for me to indulge in. I was fascinated with colorful eyeshadow and new and intriguing makeup art. It quickly became a hobby of mine to watch makeup tutorials for my own interest, and I now credit youtube for being the platform that has taught me the vast majority of my knowledge about makeup. It taught me everything from how individual products are used to how to create cool and unique looks. I remember the last time I was able to get away with trick-or-treating I made my own costume that was inspired by photos I saw online. I used a warm bronzer to color in my forehead, nose, and cheeks, and I used a white eyeshadow to create dots on the high points of my face. And with an added black nose drawn on, a brown tutu, and some false flowers pinned in my hair, I had my own (DIY) baby deer costume!
As I got older I began to experiment with day to day makeup, and soon grew to love the routine of doing my own daily makeup looks. Most of the time I went with my basic base makeup and added a few coats of mascara or a pair of false eyelashes to pull everything together. On days when I had a little more time I enjoyed creating fun and unique eyeliner and shadow looks.
At the age of 17, I may have been too old to go trick-or-treating, but that's when I remembered Halloween is the perfect excuse to use my face as a canvas and create something maybe even a little bit scary. That year I created one of my coolest looks to date, after about a 3-4 hours and a lot of black and white face paint, I had come up with my own American Horror Story inspired skeleton makeup look.
All in all makeup is a form of artistic expression that has brought me a lot of enjoyment, confidence, and even some opportunities! For example, doing my friends makeup for homecoming. I think my love for makeup would make me a dedicated and focused worker in a cosmetics store, where I can be inspired yet share my knowledge with others.
