Summary

When I got my first Job I had to drop out of high school, most of it was to support myself and my mother who was sick at the time and out of work. I started working at 17 and got a lot of good experience working as a courtesy clerk and opening lead at Safeway. When I moved up to Oregon I was able to get another job at Safeway this time as a Fuel Clerk where I again worked up to a lead position and key holder. I was able to go and get my GED from the local SWOCC college in North Bend, I got it within a month and earned credits for college which is the next step I want to take. I also want to find a new career, currently my hours have been getting cut like everyone, and I still don’t make a desirable amount per hour. I’m hard working, and determined, I’m passionate about my work no matter what it is. I hope I can hear back from whoever sees my application, thank you.

Work History

Fuel Attendant/Closing Lead

Safeway
North Bend
11.2021 - Current
  • I got this Job when I first moved to Oregon and I’ve been able to work my way up to a good position.
  • I help customers at the fuel pumps, whether thats me doing everything or just helping direct a customer if they request help.
  • I clean the pumps once every week, I clean the kiosk and bathroom every night before closing, sweeping, mopping, disinfectant wiping, etc.
  • I handle the register whenever a customer is paying with cash or wants to buy one of our goodies inside the Kiosk, drinks, snacks, cigarettes, etc.
  • I am listed in our safe which means I have to make sure money in the register gets dropped into the safe, I have to make sure I write down the correct amount I drop and the amount of all the individual bills in the cash bundle. At the end of the night I add up everything and match the numbers to printouts to make sure everything is correct.
  • I am the key holder when on clock which means I can lock/unlock the kiosk appropriately, same with the bathroom. I have a manager override barcode that I can scan at the register when needed.
  • If a customer has an issue that the current employee can’t help with I’m the one they usually go to due to my manager being gone by 1pm. I have many things that pop up such as reward points not showing up correctly, a incorrect amount of fuel pumped, or even someone putting the incorrect fuel grade or type. Although some situations I opt to just help rather than do everything so everyone can know what to do just in case I’m not there.

Courtesy Clerk

Safeway
Show Low
08.2019 - 10.2021
  • This was my first job where I learned the fundamentals of retail work, customer service, cleaning, etc.
  • Working as a Courtesy Clerk I mainly dealt with customers asking for a wide range of items or assistance and I always greeted them with a smile while doing my best to help.
  • I also worked during the initial outbreak of Covid-19 so I was doing a lot of cleaning, I would take items off of shelves and wipe them clean with disinfectant. I would also wipe carts clean for customers and so much more. Safe to say I understand the need for a clean work environment.
  • I did eventually get the opening shift lead position where I opened 5 days a week from 5am-1pm. In this role I was able to get some valuable leadership experience. I had to handle situations such as customers needing more assistance than a normal courtesy clerk could give, hopping onto registers when needed, and managing over a group of about 3-4 people at a time.
