• I work on all heavy equipment and man lifts, boom trucks. I do maintenance on them, change oil, brakes, hoses, make up hoses, replace batteries, starter motors, battery cables, tires, fix electrical systems on machines, hydraulic motors, replace seals, work on shakers for soil preparation, and screeners for soil preparation. I supervise 5 people in the field, making sure that all policies and procedures are followed. I do a bit of everything, whatever it takes to get the job done safely, correctly, and on time.
• Cleaned up debris from job sites after completing work assignments in a timely manner.
• Assisted in planting new trees by digging holes, preparing soil and setting stakes.
• Maintained records of all work performed including photographs taken during inspections.
• Pruned trees to improve the health, structure, and aesthetics of the tree.

JC Wells was a mom and pop company. If you were willing to learn, Jerry would teach you. I did all the usual things. I started in worm corner, learned how to make connections, tally pipe. We made up the drill stem with a spinning chain and manual tongs. Then, up to the monkey board, pull back the drill stem and rack it, and tie it off with a half hitch. I pulled drill collars back with a rope. We worked on Caterpillar motors, changing oil, fuel filters, radiator coolant, fixing oil leaks, repacking hydraulic cylinders, and hoses on hydraulic equipment. We also made up hydraulic hoses with a press and did welding repairs. We maintained a light plant. I also mixed a lot of mud and other drilling fluids, checked the velocity of the mud, and collected geological samples for the geologist. Changed out swabs in mud pump and made up new ones.

• Maintained work area cleanliness by disposing of waste material properly according to regulations.
• Used hand signals to direct crane operators while loading heavy items onto trucks for transport.
• Performed manual labor activities such as digging ditches, welding pipes, and cutting metal bars.
• Repaired minor mechanical failures with power tools such as grinders, saws and drills.
