I've been skateboarding for 6 years now and It's something I'm very passionate about. It's taught me many things over the years. For example, resilience, perseverance, focus, confidence, calmness, and overall patience. All of which help not only in skateboarding, but in real life as well. Whenever I attempt a new trick, more than likely I'm not going to land it first try. Regardless of that, I attempt it over and over again until I can perfect it. If I fall I get back up and try again, simple as that. Without confidence you won't accomplish what you're setting out to do. You have to be confident in your abilities in doing something or else you won't accomplish it.
In high school I used to run for the cross country and track team. It taught me to never give up, regardless of the pain and to always keep on going even if it was a slow jog. If you just continue and not give up you'll eventually reach the finish line. It's fine if you finish last because everyone goes at their own pace, what matters is that you didn't give up. I strived to be faster and with that, I put in the work to become a faster runner. Pushing my limits while running, although exhausting I pushed through. I was able to bring my mile time from 5:33 to 5:15 within 3 months of nonstop practice. Seeing those results gave me a sense of motivation to keep going.
