Responsible for leading the Environmental, Health, Safety, and Regulatory Compliance management systems and promoting a positive safety culture for all Stonhard construction projects in the United States (approximately 7,000 projects with total contract values exceeding $350 million per year) including:

  • Generating and supporting the implementation of Stonhard's written EHS programs and Project Specific Safety Plans (including task plans for Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, Respiratory Protection, Respirable Silica Exposure, Hazard Communication, and Lockout / Tagout) for construction projects with contract values of $10,000 - $10 million.
  • Collaborating on innovative solutions for the safe and successful installation of polymer floor, wall, and lining systems in various work environments. This involved daily planning and coordination with Stonhard's Sales and Construction Management Divisions, a network of 120 qualified subcontractor companies, general contractors such a Turner Construction, Fluor, DPR Construction, Skanska, PCL Construction, and Gilbane, and end users and government facilities including Intel, Pfizer, Madison Square Garden Entertainment Group, General Motors, AdventHealth, PepsiCo, ExxonMobil, Yale University, Dow Chemical and MCB Camp Lejeune.
  • Supporting and mentoring EHS and Construction Management professionals working for divisions of Stonhard in Canada, Mexico, South America, and Europe.
  • Creating professional EHS training materials in software systems such as Simon Course Editor, OpenSesame, and PowerPoint. This content is used to train Stonhard's field employees and to serve as resources for our network of subcontracted partners.

  • Developing and presenting safety initiatives and fresh ideas to executive leadership at Stonhard, RPM Performance Coatings Group, and RPM International Inc., driving organizational commitment to safety excellence.
  • Conducting EHS audits and inspections on Stonhard's field projects, generating management reports, and overseeing the implementation of proactive engineering, administrative, and PPE controls.
  • Performing incident investigations and root causes analysis (Taproot method) and completing incident reports.
  • Maintaining OSHA Logs and supporting recording keeping data. ***Stonhard's (Field Operations) Total Recordable Incident Rate (5-year average) is 0.41, which is less than 1/6th of the current BLS industry average for the classification of work.***
  • Ensuring timely resolution of worker's compensation claims by working closely with insurance providers, supervisors / managers, and injured employees.
  • Providing oversight and management level support for OSHA and other regulatory agency inspections on field projects. ***Stonhard's scope of work was included in numerous federal and state OSHA inspections over the past 5 years and in all cases there were zero findings***
  • Directing the company's Industrial Hygiene program. This involved contracting third party Certified Industrial Hygienists, personally conducting air quality sampling and noise monitoring, completing negative exposure assessments for respirable crystalline silica, various isocyanates, amines, solvents, and other organic compounds.
  • Assisting with the generation of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical product labels in accordance with the UN's Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals standard.
  • Working with field employees and freight carriers to ensure the safe and compliant shipment of DOT regulated materials.
  • Ensuring construction generated waste was disposed of in accordance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
