Kailyn Kim

Johns Creek

Summary

Hello, my name is Kailyn Kim and I am 16 years old. I aspire to be a Veterinarian in the future as I always loved to be around dogs and animals. I have a dog named Bongo and he is a Rottweiler and Beagle mix! I also have skated competitively for 8 years since 3rd grade. It has been such a big thing in my life and contributed so many aspects. My hobbies are playing the drums for my Church praise team and I love painting landscapes in my free time. I also love arts and crafts as I have made many stuffed animals from crochet.

Work History

Tailmatch organization ceo

Self Employed
2025.09 - Current

There are many dogs in need to this day that are forced into shelters that promote euthanization or shelters who lack the resources to keep up with the growing capacity of these dogs. Tailmatch organization helps match dogs set for a euthanization date to a forever home before this specific date happens. We also make crocheted hand made goods to earn money to buy resources for other shelters in need. I have learned so much from this organization as it taught me how to efficiently help dogs and raise awareness on social media platforms.

Figure skating Excel nationals qualifier

Sport
2024.06 - 2024.07

Competed in this series for Atlanta Figure Skating Club and qualified for the first time. I competed and met many athletes I looked up to such as Alyssa Lui and Ashley Cain. This experience helped me stay even more self motivated as it was a very new experience I was not accustomed to at this time. My communication skills have also gained a lot from this event as I socialized with many different girls from other states and countries.

Unicef Secretary

School Club
2025.08 - Current

Unicef is a nonprofit club for our school that helps communities or ongoing problems existing in the world. My role in this club as a secretary is to keep track of dates and plan future ideas. I have made plans such as Breast cancer card making to send the comforting cards to real patients struggling with Breast cancer. I have also started associating with the Children's Hospital to make bracelets for the children there. This club has given everyone so many opportunities to help the community and has brought so much leadership and communication throughout all the meetings.

Tutored kids from North Korea in Math and ELA

New Church of Atlanta
2022.08 - 2025.09

My church offered a program where I could tutor kids from North Korea. I have learned many different teaching skills as in what students learn best from. One my favorite students was a boy named Austin who had autism. He was very kind and funny as I made the most with him before my tutoring job ended. I have learned so many new communication skills from this opportunity and a very wide range of students that were all very fun to be around all the time.

Weekly volunteer at my local animal shelter

Furkids Animal Rescue
2024.10 - Current

This shelter has so many wonderful opportunities such as taking care of the dogs needs and walking or socializing with the dogs here. I come here very Sunday to help out with resources or to walk the dogs. Many of the dogs here were abandoned or very sick, therefore needing more help compared to other puppies. I have gained so much patience from the stubborn dogs that have been opening up to people recently. And this animal shelter has so many positive aspects with the variety of dogs and staff.
