  • Dear Sir/Madam
  • As an upcoming MPA graduate at UTSA, I hope you will find both relevance and value in the professional experience outlined in my resume. My current work and the roles I have not only reflect the spirit of public service but also the core values and competence emphasized in our MPA program. For this reason, I kindly request your consideration for exemption from the PAD 6963 Internship requirement.
  • Through my role as staff and medical personnel at Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital Kidney Clinic, I am actively engaged in real world administrative functions that align directly with public administration practice. On a daily basis coordinate patient intake, manage sensitive health information, navigate complex systems of care, and communicate across multidisciplinary teams and networks. These are the very responsibilities that mirror organizational management, policy communication, public service ethics, and operational decision making taught within the MPA curriculum. This position has strengthened my administrative judgment, broadened my understanding of health systems, and deepened my ability to serve diverse, vulnerable populations with compassion and professionalism.
  • Additionally, my prior experience with the Alzheimer’s Association of San Antonio helped open the doors and exposed me to community level program coordination, stakeholder engagement, fundraising processes, and public health advocacy. All of these are essential functions within public and nonprofit administration. That internship allowed me to participate in events, legislative outreach, and volunteer in ways that directly elevated my skills in public engagement, communication, and service delivery.
  • The past few years have brought on values of the MPA program that are not only applied from classroom knowledge but also in real time to help contribute to health outcomes within the community. I would be filled with gratitude and appreciation to have these experiences recognized as fulfilling the professional requirements of the program. I am passionate about improving health systems, and grateful for the education and perspective UTSA’s MPA program continues to give me. I respectfully ask for your consideration in approving my exemption from the internship course, as I believe my current and past roles demonstrate essential and substantial alignment with the expectations and full purpose of PAD 6963.
  • I have attached my resume so you can read the entirety of my education and experience. Please let me know if you would like to discuss this further. I am available at kaleythepk@gmail.com or by phone at 214-930-5379. Thank you for your time.
  • Sincerely
  • Kaley Jenkins
