• Christopher Pope APRN - 4 hours - PSMG - (727) 375-5437: Observed responsibilities in pediatric setting of an ARNP. Observed how ARNP's work with physicians, nursing staff, and support staff to manage patient care. The ARNP's empathetic communication style, particularly when addressing parent's or patient's concerns with their health, highlighted the value of building trust with patients. By observing the ARNP gather histories and perform physical exams, the application of clinical reasoning skills learned and needed became apparent. Shadowing an ARNP highlighted their need for excellent bedside manor and the difference in their schooling to care for their patients beyond what is required.
• Sheridan Hernandez MD - 9 hours - PSMG - (727) 375-5437: Observed responsibilities of an MD in the pediatric setting. Observed the responsibilities of an MD that work as a team with the APRN's in office and how they work with nursing staff and supporting staff. The MD's communication and thorough manor with patients and their parents, showed the value of trust and communication between patient and provider. By observing the MD gather histories and perform physical exams, the education and skill needed for accuracy and clinical reasoning MD's are trained for became apparent. Shadowing an MD highlighted their extensive knowledge and care needed to effectively care for their patients.
