Worked with Catawba County Mental Health: Child and Youth Services initially as an intern while pursuing graduate training. Upon attaining my master's degree in clinical psychology, I remained with Catawba County Mental Health as a psychological associate. Offered empathetic and insightful mental health care with a strong foundation in psychological principles and effective communication skills. Knowledgeable about cognitive-behavioral therapy and psychological assessments, with experience in research methodologies and data analysis. Committed to supporting clients' mental health and well-being through evidence-based practices and compassionate care. Offered mental-health support to children, adolescents, and families collaborating with teachers, school counselors, psychiatrists, social workers, case managers, and juvenile court counselors as needed. Also served as behavioral and mental health consultant to students and teachers at the Adolescents and Children in Treatment (ACT) Program in Newton, NC.
I left my position as psychological associate to prepare of the birth of my first child, Joseph, in October of 1999. For the next 23 years, I devoted my life to my family as a stay-at-home wife and mom. In 2004, my husband and I welcomed our twins, Ben and Eliza, into our family. My life revolved around supporting my husband and children as well as school, community, and church leadership and volunteerism.
It was a joy and challenge to accompany each of my children as they have grown into kind, insightful, quirky adults! As their needs evolved and as our parent-child relationships changed, I felt a yearning to try something new. With the guidance and support of my home parish, St. John's Episcopal Church in Marion, NC and the Diocese of WNC, I began to discern God's call to ordained ministry in 2022.
Through the process of prayerful introspection within my parish family and the diocese, I am compelled to pursue ordination to the priesthood and began formation with the Iona School for ministry in 2023. I am currently halfway through the three-year program. In addition to my studies I am fortunate to serve as postulant at St. John's as Eucharistic minister, lay reader, Sunday school teacher, president of the St. Brigid Chapter of Daughters of the King, lay Eucharistic visitor, and have the opportunity to preach at least once a month.
