Eaton Battery Recovery Team (Electrician)

  • I work with a group of 5 electricians including myself and we are all broken into 5 teams
  • Each electrician, including myself, work with a Patriot crew (Hazard environmental recovery team) and go to burned homes in the Altadena, CA area to recover dead or burnt batteries from any EV/Hybrid vehicle that have been damaged from the fires
  • We also recover damaged powerwalls from any damaged home that contained them
  • Before we begin to remove the batteries/powerwalls from the property of each home, I test them with my voltage tester and voltmeter to detect if there is still any current in the batteries/powerwalls
  • After I test them, the Patriot crew begin to remove and place them inside drums or wrap them in Tyvek homewrap depending on the size/shape of the battery
  • After the batteries have been collected for the day, we begin to drive to Lario Staging Area, CA where a brine tank is located to dump the damaged batteries/powerwalls which helps dissipate any energy left in them
  • During this recovery team work, I mentored two new electricians to show them the ropes of what they are going to be doing before being assigned to a battery removal crew

Erosion Control Team

  • We place wattles and stake them around displaced grounds that are soon to be built on for homes
  • The wattles are to slow down and spread out sediment and water
  • After wattles have been placed, I work with my team and we hydro mulch the wattle area inside
  • I was trained to operate the hydro mulch machine
  • I work in a very fast paced environment
  • I pay very much attention to detail to ensure I do well in erosion control
