My name is Kirubel Mesfin, also known as "juju". I am an Ethiopian American student who transferred from Utah State University. I originally wanted to come here back in 2022 after high school but I was in a horrific car accident 2 months before my high school graduation. I was in a wheelchair for 2 months, but I was able to walk last minute on my graduation day, in front of my peers, family, and the entire community. I then started school at Utah State since I had hospital bills to pay and rehab. And a year later I finally fully recovered and finished all my hospital bills. I then instantly applied to come in the spring of 2024, I was nervous as soon as I opened up my laptop to apply. But I wanted to achieve greater things in this world, and I wanted to take risks, so I applied and got accepted. Being transferred to the U was one of the biggest steps I have taken in my life, I've been here for a couple of days and miss my family heavily, but I have a drive in me that is hungry for success, And to watch future transfer's to succeed and adapt. My educational goals are to graduate with a degree in psychology, following graduate school ( maybe I'm so nervous). With that major, I want to go into the medical field ( will have to go to graduate school) and become a psychiatrist or whatever jobs are available in the medical field.
I was originally born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. I came to the United States when I was three years old back in 2007. I came straight to Utah with my mom ( my dad was already in the States getting our life set up) and lived in Logan, Utah all my life. My dad went to college but raising a family straight from Africa and balancing school and work was difficult. My father went to school for a couple of months before dropping out because of financial reasons. As a transfer student, the funds I'd be receiving would be stepping stones to my future and getting a degree that my parents never got.
My goal is to major in psychology and graduate with a pysch degree with possibly the intention of getting a PhD.
