  • As a volunteer with Read to Grow, I visit with new parents bedside to talk about the language development of their newborn in a simple, fun, and loving way
  • I discuss the importance of reading, talking, playing, and bonding with their baby from day one; and the impact this has on literacy development
  • Read to Grow annually delivers around 22,000 Literacy Packets to parents of newborns that account for 61% of births in Connecticut
  • We also offer free books to siblings of newborns in the hospital, and encourage building a home library for all of the children in the home
  • The Literacy Packets include Read to Grow's own baby board book: "Welcome to the World!", a "First Guide for Parents of Newborns" booklet, reply card for more free books over the babies first year, and a CHET Baby
