Responsibilities included patching and rebooting over a dozen physical and virtual Windows Server 2012 and 2016 servers in the secure environment; Windows 10 desktop imaging, patching, and remediation; creating/disabling user accounts in the secure environment; and assisting customers with questions on their non-secure systems provided by the State Department. Network duties included reserving IP addresses in the local DHCP service on Windows server and assigning appropriate VLAN’s on access switches depending on device type. Inventoried over 700 pieces of classified equipment, creating a database to track serial numbers, asset tags, equipment location, and warranty dates to determine equipment lifecycle. Also responsible for following both Department of Defense and Department of State regulations for securing classified materials and proper office opening and closing procedures.

Duties included providing desktop/laptop/tablet support, submitting Change Requests to clear port security on Cisco and Entrasys switches, performing daily server checks on physical and Hyper-V servers, maintaining backups schedules/swapping tapes including daily incremental and weekly/monthly backups, ensuring patches and McAfee anti-virus updates are completed, and handling service calls and tickets from one local and seven remote offices, including traveling to remote sites in the Idaho/Montana area of responsibility. Other responsibilities include migrating end users from Windows 7/8.1 to the standard Windows 10 image.

Enterprise Patch Management/Network Operations On-Call Administrator

  • Initially providing services for a client that required patching over 1500 Windows Server 2003/2008/2012 servers and pushing more than 65,000 patches. Also provided nighttime coverage for their Network Operations Center ensuring that file transfers, backups, and other operations for various business units were functioning so that these business units can operate normally during standard working hours. After training other staff members of this particular client's needs and providing continued support, the positions was then transitioned into the On Call Administrator team providing support for over two dozen clients with network monitoring, system backups, shift checks on physical and VMWare servers, and back-end systems support outside normal working hours.
