I often pondered, 'Why Texas?' Having spent the majority of my life rooted in Vietnam, my connection to the Lone Star State began in 2007 when I visited my husband's family in the US. During and post-pandemic, my mother-in-law needed assistance with her health, prompting my husband, daughter, and me to make the life-altering decision to leave Vietnam for the US. A year later, I joined my family for a long-awaited reunion.
For the past two years, we have resided in upstate New York. However, the challenges of living there mounted, leading us to seek a new home. Fortunately, my husband's brother, a long-time resident of Sugar Land for over 25 years, extended his welcoming embrace. We made the move last August, and we've come to love it here. My daughter has thrived in school, reveling in being part of the FCMS honors band as a sixth-grader. The Texan lifestyle has genuinely resonated with us — the pleasant weather, warm and amicable people, affordable cost of living, and bid adieu to the cold.
This transition marks a new chapter in our lives, and our priority is to establish stability for our daughter's education and secure our family's future.
