  • Returning to the VA I accepted my previous position back. I work both Med/Surg and fill in at the CLC as needed. Job duties included are assisting veterans with ADLs, providing emotional support, and other tasks assigned by my nurse manager that were limited to my scope of practice. I gained experience in using medical equipment such as, blood glucose monitor-glucose checks done per shift on patients as ordered by the doctor, bladder scanner-use of bladder scanner with a patient that has low or zero urine output, EKG machine—test completed on patients with a doctors order from meds or chest pain complaints, and CPM machines-monitor usage of machine that allows assistance with flexion and straightening after a knee surgery. I gained experience in precepting new CNAs-training new CNAs/care partners on med-surg. Medical terminology is used daily as well as reporting collected data to the registered nurse and/or charting in the EMR.
