Summary

Hi there! My name is Lauren Lawrence. I am currently a graduate student in my third year at The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology to become a licensed LPC in the states of Texas and Washington. I am seeking an internship site that helps to support my growth and goals of working with couples, families, and groups. I am also interested in working with children on the spectrum, with individuals who struggle with substance abuse, and with women who experience somatic dissociation.

  • Taught levels Spanish I and II to sophomores and juniors.
  • Taught Omnibus III, which is mostly a combination of history and literature that focuses on a large swath of human history. My era was modern day, ranging from the 1500s to present day, reading primary texts from fiction and non-fiction alike to work on understanding just how our (Western) stories have been unfolding.
  • House Coordinator of the student-led organization whose goal is to bring intention to school culture.
  • Evaluated students' understanding of course material through examinations and in-depth essay writing.
  • Fostered student curiosity and interest through creative hands-on activities.
  • Met with students, parents and administrators to address and resolve students' behavioral and academic issues.

  • Conducted interviews and wrote biographies for over 80 artists to be able to promote their artistry.

Wildlife Rehabilitator Extern (Seasonal)

Wildlife Center of Virginia
03.2017 - 06.2017
  • Managed weighing, feeding, housing, exercise training, and enrichment for a variety of native species that included birds of prey, songbirds, foxes, squirrels, opossums, turtles, snakes, and black bears.
  • Participated in daily education hour, which included labs and lectures.

Lead Baker and Chef

Shelley’s Bakery & Café/Blue Horse Bakery
10.2016 - 03.2017

Spanish Teacher

Woden High School - WISD

07.2009 - 07.2011

Interests

I have been an active adventurer and explorer, whether on foot, bike, bike, or boat, in the wild for all of my life but, due to the semi-recent development of chronic arthritic pain, I am having to adapt, which is its own process of grief. This has led me to intimately exploring the world of somatic therapy and the personal and cultural confusion around our bodies. In my free time, I love reading the classics, memoirs, and children's literature. Our humble home is where my greatest joy is. It is where my husband, pets, and garden reside. Beauty and simplicity are what I seek.
