My Journey Through Yoga and Beyond
My journey with yoga began in 2008 when a close friend introduced me to a simple Vinyasa Flow at UCSD, where she was teaching. From that first session, I knew yoga made me feel more like myself. I discovered Ashtanga yoga in 2012 in Austin, Texas, and instantly fell in love with how it made my body bend, stretch, and move. But more than that, I cherished how it allowed me to lose myself in my breath, elevating my mind to a higher state of consciousness. This profound connection led me to deepen my practice, culminating in a trip to India in 2014 to complete my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Certification (YTTC).
Returning to San Diego in 2015, I began studying Bheemashakti, a form of Kriya Yoga. This new practice added another layer to my understanding of how yoga can align and heal the body.
Over the years, I've had the privilege of studying Ashtanga at the Institute in Gokulam, Mysore, India, and with various visiting teachers in San Diego. I've immersed myself in Bheemashakti Mandalas, committing to 21-day practices that pushed my limits and expanded my awareness. In 2021, my journey took me to Amsterdam, where I trained in Qigong. This experience introduced me to different techniques for circulating energy within the body, some vigorous and others more gentle and relaxing.
Movement and stretching are my passions. I remain a dedicated student, eager to explore the myriad ways we can assist the body in finding balance and healing itself daily. I believe there is no greater treasure on earth than the feeling of wellness, a clear mind, and a body that functions at its best.
